Fantastic victory for the Dutch rider: Lauren van Berkel.
02-06-2017

For this 2nd event of the day at 1.15m with a jump-off for riders without fault, only 10 out of 29 participants made it with a pristine score. Three riders qualified in the jump-off. Lauren van Berkel (NED), Sheikh Samir Mirdad (KSA) and Bibiane Beerens (NED).

Three pairs achieved a double clear round. The first to set the pace was Sheikh Samir Mirdad (KSA) / Mirdads Mekkkah; second to participate in the jump-off, he took all optios and put some pressure on other participants with a chronometer at 37.96 seconds.

Despirte Lauren van Berkel's spectacular fall with her first horse, Little Lancer, the rider returned to the course, remotivated, with her second horse, Prele du Chanois.  She ran her course like a warrior, galloping in the last stretch to win by a few hundredths of seconds: 37.45 sec!

On the podium's third riser: Bibiane Beerens (NED)/ Zowiezo at 40.23 sec.

Words from Lauren van Berkel: "My fall was quite violent and despite my pain, I absolutely wanted to return to the course. Prele du Chanois is a very fast horse. I knew that I could beat Sheikh Samir Mirdad's chronometer. I forgot about everything on the track and focused on my turn and winning. I am very proud of my first place."
