Kevin Staut's revenge, winner of the Prix Julius Baer!
03-06-2017

Ramatuelle, June 2, 2017 – The world's best riders came together in the arena at the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show before an enthusiastic audience.

Truly the highlight of the afternoon, the Prix Julius Baer finished the second day of the 4th edition of the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show on June 2. 43 riders from 20 countries participated in the event. Only seven pairs were able to overcome the obstacles on the difficult course designed by Uliano Vezzani to qualify for the timed jump-off.

Sergio Alvarez Moya (ESP), known for being very fast, almost won the Prix Julius Baer with Iron Man 111. He was first to start in the jump-off and had a super chronometer of 42.91 seconds. But that was before knowing how fast the day's champions were, the pair of Kevin Staut (FRA) and his mare, Ayade de Septon et HDC. Like the day before, he was last to participate on the course, but the story was different today: he mastered his mare, gaining a few hundredths of seconds to reach the podium's highest riser.

He thanked the audience who encouraged him with a victory lap before the award ceremony.

Olivier Philippaerts (BEL)/Henna de Goedereede, took third place with 43.50 seconds.

Words from Kevin Staut: "My mare is in very good condition, she made no faults in almost all of the events. Yesterday, I was a bit under pressure, a jump-off with 11 participants, we made a fault on number 2 and the rest is history, I finished the last jump-off. Today, I prepared my approach to the jump-off in a different way, my mare was calm and this time we were the winners. It's fantastic to win here in Saint-Tropez, before an audience who encourages us, it's extremely pleasant."
